A Unique Experience
Pu‘u O Hōkū offers exclusive guided wild Moloka‘i axis deer hunts on our 14,000-acre ranch. These wild axis deer happen to be the tastiest venison on the planet. Due to the deer’s small stature and feed, the lean meat is a luxury that is enjoyed locally on the island and by chefs worldwide. With numbers estimated to be as high as 30,000-50,000 across the island, hunting these deer is also good for land preservation.
What You Should Know

- Hunts are conducted morning and evenings
- Processing and packaging of meat and 2-day shipping services available
- Please note that hunters are responsible for obtaining Hawai’i hunting licenses (available online)
- Firearm rentals available
- Ranch accommodations are private cottages (3-4 ppl) or exclusive access to the lodge (12 bedrooms)
- Ranch tours, access to hiking trails, waterfalls, and beaches are also available
- Helicopter transport to the ranch can be organized at guest expense
